Vorticity - CFD Competition at IIT Bombay Techfest 2009-10
The IIT Techfest is known all over India and abroad as one of the largest conglomeration of budding scientists and engineers from all over the country to learn, exchange and develop their knowledge and ideas. Techfest has always tried to bring the exotic and lesser known fields of science to the masses by popularising them among students. Following this scheme, IIT and Zeus Numerix Pvt Ltd have planned a competition, "Vorticity" for encouraging students to learn the basics of Computational Fluid Dynamics.

The participants will have to cross three levels of increasing complexity to emerge as winners. The first level involves a practice session on ZNTutor-CFD™. In the second level, the students will be required to solve a problem having moderate complexity. Students who qualify this level will be invited to attend Techfest at the institute campus to participate in the final event. At Techfest, these selected students will have to solve the given problem within the stipulated time. Winners will be judged based on
(a) understanding of the physics,
(b) methodology of solving the problem,
(c) accuracy of the solution and
(d) interpretation of the solution.

ZN has already deployed time bound licenses ZNTutor-CFD™ at www.techfest.org and user manuals for CFDExpert™ on the company's website.

Participants are advised to study the basics and theory of CFD before attempting the problems. FAQs for the workshop will be posted at the Techfest website. Help in executing software can be availed by mailing the problem to vorticity@zeusnumerix.com.
